Safety First

Safety is our highest priority and we are well-staffed with certified lifeguards for all pool activities. A professional member of our Emory University sports medicine staff is on duty during all camp activities. Each of the instructional activity areas is led by a professional adult coordinator who is either a member of the Emory teaching/coaching staff or from the local PE community. These Area Coordinators are assisted by college students with expertise in that area. Our camp is different from many other camps you may come across due to the number of professional adults working in the camp. Have your child learn from the best!

An Overview of our Summer Camp Program

The Emory University Sports Fitness Camp is the original all-sports camp in Atlanta and enjoys a long-standing reputation for providing a safe, fun, and incredibly rewarding experience for campers ages 5-12.  Our experienced and highly trained camp staff will supervise the children from drop-off until pick-up.  Our camp can accommodate children of all skill levels. During the aquatics instructional period, one instructor will work with a very small group of 5-8 children who are grouped based on their age and skill level.  In addition to our camp staff in and around the pool, lifeguards will be on duty during all instructional and free swim periods.

The majority of activity takes place inside the air-conditioned Woodruff Physical Education Center (WPEC).  The campers are outside each day for a maximum of 1 hour of activity.  Campers come inside for water and to cool down after 30 minutes of outdoor activity.

You may register for one week, two week, or three week sessions. Full Day and Half Day sessions are available.  Select the session(s) in which you wish to enroll.  Once you select a session, you will have the opportunity to add it to your cart and proceed to check out.  Remember that you get the best value by registering for multiple weeks.  Be sure to have your credit card ready as payment is required at registration in order to confirm your spot in the camp!  Once you complete the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email that includes important details such as pick up/ drop off locations and what to bring.  All sessions have filled in recent years as we can only accommodate 165 kids per week.

A Typical Day

Camp begins at 8:15am for both half and full day campers. You may drop off your child between 7:50am-8:10am.  In the morning, campers rotate through 35 minute instructional activity areas each day in

•     a) track & field,
•     b) swimming,
•     c) team sports including basketball and soccer,
•     d) gymnastics & tumbling and
•     e) movement exploration

At 12:30pm, half day campers are picked up and full day campers eat lunch. Full day campers should bring a sack lunch from home and will be supervised as they eat in their age-groups.  At approximately 1:30pm, the campers resume activities and continue a variety of age-appropriate activities.

Full Day Campers

Campers enrolled in the full day program will be supervised as they walk to the dining area where they may eat their lunch brought from home.   At approximately 1:30, the campers return to the WPEC and continue a variety of age-appropriate games and activities.

Activity areas in the afternoon vary based on weather and space availability, so early pick-ups must be communicated in advance.  Please send a note with your child if you need to pick-up earlier than 5pm.

Because of the strenuous nature of much of the camp activity, full day campers will have 'quiet time' near the end of the day.  Camp staff will provide a G-rated movie each day or will have the option to play games or participate in story time.

Summer 2017 Registration will open on January 9th, 2017!!!

Summer camps make a huge difference in the year-round education of children.  The American Academy of Pediatrics, alongside many other scholars of child develpment, explain why play is essential to develpment since it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well being of children.

Our sessions fill up quickly every year, so please mark your calendars and register early.

Session 1:  June 5-9
Session 2:  June 12-16
Sessions 3:  June 19-23
