Oak Tree Camps @ Clayton State University
Our Staff, Our Biggest and Greatest Asset.
Providing nothing but the best for your camper.

Our Team possesses extraordinary skills in working with children, a deep commitment and a profound sensitivity to the development of each camper. Our limited camper enrollment and low camper-to-staff ratio ensure that each child receives the individual attention he/she deserves to flourish in a safe and supportive environment. Our Team encourages campers to learn and grow, to trust in their abilities, and to believe in themselves so that all reach their fullest potential.

Our selectivity in Team Members combined with our formidable training and leadership development programs has already made our camps known throughout the camp industry and has earned us well-deserved local recognition.

Oak Tree Camps carefully selects the men and women of our staff for their interest and commitment to working with children. Each staff member meets a high standard of dedication and skill. Interviews are conducted, references are checked, and rigorous background checks are completed. Staff members attend an in depth orientation, which emphasizes counseling skills, group dynamics, safety procedures and activity skills. Our staff forms a strong, committed team with a single focus: a safe summer filled with fun, learning and growth opportunities for each camper.

Elijah received his Bachelor of Science degree in management from Clayton State University in 2005. While attending Clayton State, he started the Intramural Sports program for students, faculty, and the community. The Intramural Sports at Clayton State University continues today because of his work. For three years he was a member of the Nigerian Youth Alliance, an organization designed to mobilize and enable Nigerian youth in the United States.

These skill sets led him to Emory University Athletics where he was able to flourish his skills. He began as a graduate assistant and currently serves as Events and Marketing Director. While at Emory University he revamped the Youth Day Events, a program designed to invite children from the community to Emory University athletic events to meet and greet players.

Tiffany Gills, Camp Director
Tiffany is a 2010 Emory University graduate. While attending Emory, Tiffany received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and minor in Sociology. Through the Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowship for Aspiring Teachers of Color she was able to complete her Master of Arts in Teaching at Emory and graduate in 2011.
Since then Tiffany has been working as a middle school science teacher in Chicago, Illinois. She is currently the 7th grade Life Science Teacher at Cameron Elementary School. Outside of teaching, Tiffany has a passion for physical fitness and exercise. Tiffany works at La Fitness as a cycling instructor and attends aerial classes at Air Fitness Chicago.
Tiffany has been a part of Oak Tree Camps since it first began. This will be her second year as the camp director. Tiffany took on this job, because of her love for children and day camp. Before working at Oak Tree Camps she was a lifeguard and pool manager at the Jewish Community Center Camp in Flossmoor. Her experiences at that camp and other day camps as a child is what drives her to make sure every camper has a fun daily and learns something new in the process.
